Funny Face

Evey always makes the best facial expressions.

One of my nicknames for her is Miss E - which is technically short for Evey, but could also be used as "Miss Expressions". She cracks me up during the days with all the cute faces she makes.

According to babycenter.com, at four weeks old, babies start to register your facial expressions and mimic them. Evey has been mimicing us since week two and she's a big smiler. I jokingly call it her "gas face" but I know she's really just a happy baby. This afternoon, I was making funny faces at her for her to mimic, which is part of our daily routine, and I got the bright idea to video tape her reactions.

Of course, my camera-shy daughter knew what I was doing and quit copying me as soon as I held up my phone, but I did catch her smiling! I have to admit, I am such a sucker for that big, toothless grin! Be watching for it around the 1:18 mark. My apologies for not keeping her completely in frame the whole time, I was watching her, not the camera. Lol.

Time Flies When You're Having Fun

Evey is one month old today and I can't believe it's already been a month!

Then I think about everything we've done together and I can't believe it's only been a month! It's amazing how time flies...

We went to have One Month photos taken this afternoon and we had so much fun. If you want to view the professional's pictures just click http://www.SearsPhotos.com/ViewSharedAlbum.aspx?ShareID=5efea8ab-a20d-40bd-a0bd-4d67f157b664. There are definitely some cute pictures!

Here are my pictures of her 31st day in the world.

This face was so great - I had to post it!!

I call her Miss E - short for "Miss Expressions"!

I love the pictures of her crying... she's so sweet when she cries.

Here are some other pictures from our day:

More Mimi snuggles.

I wanna be just like Mimi!

A Long Way From Home

This weekend, Christopher and I got really brave and drove 5 hours with my family to my grandparent's house. We scheduled and cancelled the trip so many times in the last week because we weren't sure if it was too crazy to try such a long trip with our four week old.

We checked with the pediatrician's office and several friends and everyone seemed to agree that now's the time to travel... so we did. We felt like we had to pack the whole house in order to do it, but overall it was very successful!

Evey was amazing! We left Friday evening around 6:30 and only stopped once to feed her, but she slept the entire trip. We got to Grandma and Grandpa's house around 12:30am and she was just sociable enough to snuggle her great-grandma a little before needing some more food. While Evey ate, her Papa set up the pack and play we borrowed from our friends and after second dinner, she was ready for sleep. We swaddled her up and we were off to bed! We had a big day ahead for all of us and we weren't sure exactly how it would go.

Our plan was to either leave Saturday night or Sunday morning depending on how she did and what we thought would distract from her schedule more. Over the past week, she's started sleeping through the night... sort of. She'll sleep between 7 and 8 hours after her evening feeding which means I'm up at 4am, but I'm still getting lots more sleep than most new parents! We weren't sure if driving through the night on Saturday would help her schedule more or if going the next morning would overstimulate her too much and cause a sleepless night for us.

Saturday afternoon, Evey got to meet her Great-Aunts, Uncles and cousins. We spent the day eating, playing cards and board games and snuggling the sweetest girl in the world! I was so proud of how well Evey did. Of course she cried - talk about sensory overload, but she really was incredible.

Despite all the pictures, I really liked my Great Grandma!

Loving on Aunt Christie.

Picking tomatoes with Papa.

Begging Papaw to race!
Ready... Set...

Evey couldn't figure out who Aunt Brenda was! She just stared at her for the longest time and it was so cute!

Trying to convince Mike to hold her.

Now he's not giving her back - and I don't blame him!!

Yep... it was definitely bedtime!
