Milestones: Nine Months

It seems like forever since I've blogged, but as Evey gets older, I have less and less time to write.

Playing wither her oddball.

Everything is a teething toy...

Trying to crawl... she doesn't quite have it yet.

She is now officially mobile. She pulls up on everything - the couch, her toys, dresser drawers, my legs... you name it, she pulls up on it. She moves from her music table, across the snake cage, to her easel. She's always on the go, and there's no end in sight!

She steamrolls like a maniac. The other day, Christopher was messing with the cables behind our entertainment center and when he sat back, he sat right on top of Evey. She just wanted to be with him and rolled underneath without him knowing! No, she wasn't hurt... he said she just looked up at him with the biggest grin on her face.

She's becoming more and more of a Papa's girl as time wears on. I knew it was coming - it happens to all little girls one day - which is why I milked it so much while I could! Now, she can't make up her mind who she wants more, so she just goes back and forth, reaching so hard for the parent that isn't holding her. It's pretty cute. I'm not going to lie!

At nine months old, Evey has two teeth, and they're not even fully grown. Her little pearly-whites are so adorable and they definitely help her chomp through her food! She's gone from liking only pureed-style baby food to enjoying mashed foods and now is at the point where she'll eat almost anything! She loves chicken, bananas and apples (according to daycare; I can't get her to eat them!). We've been venturing away from orange foods. Apparently she was eating too much and the keratin caused quite the diaper rash. She loves what we call nanacadoes and would rather eat her veggies if it's mixed with fruits. She feeds herself now, as well. She shoves food in by the handful, which I think she learned from her cousin!

Her favorite toys are her "Your Baby Can Read!" movies, her oddball, her stuffed fruits and veggies (especially the mushrooms!), the remote control and/or cell phone and/or keys (aka. anything that Mom or Papa has and she wants!) and the shapes to her pelican shape sorter, as well as the pelican's head. She takes the head off and teethes like crazy! She LOVES her music table. She has one at home, at daycare and at Mimi's house and she squeals and giggles as she plays.

Other things that make her laugh?
She loves to be tickeled and raspberries.
     Kissing her feet.
Saying "Boo, boo, boo-boo-boo!" Over and over again.
Us fake-laughing with her makes her crack up!
Playing with other children or babies.
Riding on the mom-train (I hold her on my hip and "chug-a-chug" her up and down as I walk!).

I've been racking my brain trying to think of her favorite song, but for once there's not a specific one that stands out. All I know is that she loves music. Singing always makes me smile. Christopher and I watch the voice and she stands at her easel, below the TV, staring straight up singing, "Bah, Bah, BAAAAAHHH!!" at the top of her lungs. I heard her singing from the living room while I was in the shower once, and I couldn't help but smile! I love that music is so important to her at such a young age!

We're working on some signing and she can already read two words for sure (wave and clap) and possibly several others thanks to "Your Baby Can Read." She's been talking more and more. A couple of weeks ago, I was feeding her nanacadoes and she looked up at me with a smile and said "Hi, Mama!" My heart has never been happier than it was to hear her call me that again. It was the second time she's said my name, but just like before, there was no doubt in my mind that she knew what she was saying.

The nine month mark has been bittersweet for me. She's learning so many new things every day, and always growing, and I'm definitely a proud mom. But, she's losing that "baby" look - especially now that she has teeth. She's in the process of moving from baby to toddler, and even though I'm constantly urging the next milestone, it breaks my heart. I want to go back a few months so I have my sweet, tiny girl who just wanted to cuddle and eat, sleep and poop. The little girl who only wanted her mommy. My little girl.

Time passes too quickly once you become a Mommy. I love every single minute spent with my baby and I will always cherish the moments that are so fleeting. I'm so thankful for digital photography that lets me capture so many of these memories to hold onto forever.

Evey's Egg-Stravaganza!

My sweet girl was all dressed up and ready to hunt this morning! We went to Vineyard's EGG-stravaganza and had so much fun!

Our friends, Tom & Amber were there with their kids, Wes & Adele. They're almost a year older than Evey, but Wes LOVES her and Adele LOVES her "Uncle Topher!" It's been a while since we'd seen them, so Adele was glued to Christopher. She missed him so much, it was adorable!

Evey just started getting jealous yesterday. Christopher and I went to visit our friends in Covington who'd just had a baby and we were so excited to meet him! As soon as I got there, I couldn't wait to pick him up - only, Evey had something to say about it! I've never seen her like that. What's funny is that, typically she wants me, so it made sense. But, today, when Evey saw her Papa holding another girl, he was all she wanted. It was so cute seeing him with his girls!

Adele spent most of the day on Christopher's shoulders.
That is... until he was sticky and juice covered that he had to bring her down!

The line to get food was so long, and Wes was so hungry! He was begging - LOL!!!

By the end of lunch, we were all covered in hot dog and bun, but we had three happy babies!

... and sleepy babies, as none had napped!

As we were waiting for the hunt to start, it was time for another snack. Adele was so good at sharing her cheerios (or oh-oh's as they're called at daycare) and she even helped Evey eat them!

The hunt itself was madness! Christopher described it accurately when he said it was like an ant swarm... Oh. My. Goodness.

We were in the 0-3 age group and there had to be at least 100 kids (and their parents) hunting! I wanted E to pick her own eggs up, and I knew she could, but she was shell-shocked. Finally, I helped a bit and we made it out with some twizzlers, laffy Taffy, Tootsie Rolls and one egg. That's right. One. I kept laughing because we didn't even get a coloured egg. It was a plain, white, plastic egg. Evey enjoyed the candy inside because it made a perfect sized rattle! Even though it was crazy and over in about 2.5 seconds, it was a blast hunting with my girl!

After the hunt, everything was so relaxed. The kiddos played with their loot. Wesley ate half a Twizzler and Adele shared popcorn with everyone.

Evey and Wesley love each other so much. They're so funny together. Evey really doesn't notice Adellyn so much, and vice versa, but Wesley and Evey are connected. Christopher and Tom decided soon after Evey was born that they'd get married one day... We'll see how that turns out - LOL.

E eating a Dum Dum...

That's incredibly safe...
Great parenting on my part! <wink, wink>

It was definitely a fun day! We were all so relaxed, and E was so worn out that she was passed out within minutes of getting in the car. I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep tonight! :)
